About

The 25th Separate Airborne Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is one of the country’s most established and combat-experienced formations within the Air Assault Forces, with its modern history beginning in 1993. Designed as a rapid reaction and high-mobility unit, the brigade specializes in airborne and air assault operations, including rapid deployment, offensive breakthroughs, and defensive actions in critical sectors of the front. Over decades of service, it has built a strong reputation for professionalism and resilience, taking part in key military operations since 2014 and continuing to play an important role during the full-scale invasion.

The brigade has been led by experienced commanders, including Oleh Shandruk, under whose leadership it has maintained a high level of combat readiness and operational effectiveness. Its personnel are trained to operate in fast-changing environments where speed, coordination, and initiative are essential, allowing the brigade to carry out complex missions both independently and in coordination with other units.

A defining aspect of the 25th Airborne Brigade’s modern combat capability is its integration of unmanned aerial systems into its operational framework. The brigade активно employs reconnaissance drones to monitor enemy movements, gather real-time intelligence, and coordinate artillery and assault elements with greater precision. In addition, strike UAVs are used to engage enemy forces, equipment, and defensive positions, enhancing the effectiveness of both offensive and defensive operations. This emphasis on drone warfare significantly improves situational awareness and responsiveness, enabling the brigade to adapt to the evolving demands of modern high-intensity conflict while maintaining its role as a highly mobile and capable air assault formation.
