The 39th Separate Marine Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is a modern naval infantry formation established in 2023 as part of the expansion of Ukraine’s Marine Corps during the full-scale war. Created to strengthen the country’s amphibious and coastal warfare capabilities, the brigade is structured to operate effectively in both maritime and land-based combat environments. Like other marine units, it combines infantry, armored vehicles, and artillery elements, allowing it to conduct a wide range of missions, from defensive operations along key frontlines to offensive actions in complex terrain.

The brigade is commanded by Dmytro Delyatynskyi, under whose leadership it has developed its operational structure and combat readiness. As a newly formed unit, it has focused on rapidly integrating trained personnel, building cohesion, and adapting to the evolving requirements of modern warfare. This approach has enabled the brigade to transition efficiently from formation to active deployment while maintaining flexibility and responsiveness in dynamic combat situations.

A key component of the 39th Marine Brigade’s operational capability is its use of unmanned aerial systems to enhance battlefield effectiveness. The unit actively employs reconnaissance drones to monitor enemy positions, gather real-time intelligence, and coordinate artillery and maneuver elements with improved precision. In addition, strike UAVs are utilized to engage enemy personnel, equipment, and fortified positions, increasing the efficiency of combat operations while reducing risks to troops. This integration of drone technology significantly enhances situational awareness and coordination, allowing the brigade to operate as a modern and adaptive force within Ukraine’s Naval Infantry.
