The Lasar’s Group is a specialized unmanned systems unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, established in 2022 during the early phase of the full-scale invasion to address the growing need for effective drone-based reconnaissance and strike capabilities. Formed by a group of motivated professionals with a focus on technological innovation and battlefield efficiency, the unit quickly developed into one of Ukraine’s most recognized drone formations. Its structure and operational approach are centered on flexibility, rapid adaptation, and the ability to deliver precise effects in high-intensity combat environments.

The unit is commanded by Pavlo Yelizarov, under whose leadership Lasar’s Group has achieved a high level of operational effectiveness. Bringing together skilled UAV operators, engineers, and analysts, the unit is capable of executing complex missions that rely on coordination, real-time intelligence, and rapid decision-making. Its ability to operate independently or in support of larger formations has made it a valuable asset across multiple sectors of the front.

Drone usage is the central pillar of Lasar’s Group’s operational doctrine. The unit extensively employs reconnaissance UAVs to maintain continuous surveillance, identify and track enemy targets, and provide actionable intelligence to supported units. In addition, it utilizes a wide range of strike drones, including FPV systems and loitering munitions, to conduct precision attacks against armored vehicles, artillery systems, logistics nodes, and fortified positions. This integrated and persistent use of unmanned systems allows the unit to deliver consistent and cost-effective battlefield impact while minimizing risk to personnel, highlighting its role as a modern, technology-driven formation at the forefront of Ukraine’s evolving approach to warfare.
